Salt River ABE/GED student Travis Smith chose to focus his inquiry and investigation for ENG 091 into the issue of human trafficking dangers in Native American communities and advocate for the need for raising awareness. Out of his in-class investigation, a Native Youth Awareness Toolkit on Human Trafficking was identified. 

Salt River ABE/GED student Jalen Schurz decided to look into the benefits of having a garden after January’s Community Garden writing reflections. He wrote:

“A month ago, I was going through grief and was told to go to the Garden. I didn’t think it was going to help for what I was going through. So I used it to get my mind off what was bothering. It helped me to ease my stress and improve my mood. Spending time in the Community Garden I found a way to connect with nature. Just being there in the Community Garden relieved my stress, so I wanted to know to know more.”

Jalen let his curiosity lead to his own self-directed inquiry and research into the benefits of having a community garden. One of Jalen’s identified sources is an article published by Collective Evolution
